From around the world… Students from around the world have once again come to Hales Corners for the summer ESL (English as a Second Language) program. July and August are the busiest months for ESL since many students use their summer break to work on their English skills. The students prepared short biographies to introduce themselves. The biographies, along with photos, were assembled by the ESL Department. The bios can be accessed as a PDF file by clicking HERE. The following are samples of a few of the biographies (please keep in mind that English is not the first language of any of the writers): “My name is Jan Krzysciak. I was born on June 24th, 1973 in Limanowa, Poland. I’m a Polish citizen. My native city is Tymbark. I’m a priest of the Sacred Heart and have been a priest for five years. I worked in a parish in the central area of Poland, in Belchatow. In December, 2007, I will be going to work in an SCJ mission in south Philippines. I like to read, watch movies, and work with people. Right now I’m a student of English in the ESL program. I have a lot of favorite subjects and hobbies, such as skiing, driving, and mountain climbing. My most favorite subject, right now, is English.” “My name is Giuseppe Guglielmi and I was born in Italy on September 17th, 1976. I entered the seminary of the Priests of the Sacred Heart in 1997. I studied Philosophy and Theology in Bologna and Naples, where I received my Master of Arts in Theology. On June 28, 2002, I was ordained. I studied Fundamental Theology at the Gregorian University in Rome and received my Licentiate and Doctorate degrees. Now, I work in Naples as the Provincial Secretary and am responsible for the formation of Philosophy and Theology for the seminarians of the South Italian Province. Next year I will be an assistant professor of Theological Anthropology of the Jesuit Theological faculty in Naples.” “My name is Stanley Plawecki. I’m Polish. I was born on April 17, 1972, in Bochnia, Poland. My parents live in a village near Krakow. I have four sisters. I went to elementary school in my village, but for secondary school I studied in Bochnia. I went to the technical school there. After school I wanted to study in Krakow. At this time in my life, I met a priest who changed my life. He was wonderful. I left my studies in Krakow and I entered a seminary for the Priests of the Sacred Heart. In the beginning, it was very difficult. I thought about my friends, my family, and my dreams. I studied Theology and I became priest. For three years I worked in Poland and then I went to Cameroon. Cameroon is a country that needs the Gospel. There are two official languages in Cameroon: French and English. I speak French. Now I am studying English. I hope that I will learn a lot.” He’s back… After several days in the hospital for treatment of an intestinal infection, Fr. Bernie Rosinski is back at the monastery. He actually stopped at the Provincialate Office for a bit on Friday morning and said that he is doing much better and thanks people for their prayers and concern. Mission intention The Holy Father’s mission intention for July is: “That, aware of their own missionary duty, all Christians may actively help all those engaged in the evangelization of peoples.” |
