| Provincial’s time Fr. Cassidy is with the Dehon Formation Community in Chicago until Tuesday, February 19. Shopping spree Frater Duy Nguyen pinch hit for Fr. Chuck Wonch after Fr. Chuck won a shopping spree at Al’s Oasis in Chamberlain, SD. Three raffle winners lined-up at the front of the store and had two minutes to accumulate up to $250 worth of items. The person closest to $250 won what was in his or her cart. Frater Duy took the top honor with $200.84 worth of food. Second place won a $30 gift card and third place won $20. “I grabbed 10 pounds of ground beef, pork loins, fish sticks, oranges, orange juice, milk, bottled water, pop, buffalo meat, a $35 cooked ham, and a few other items,” said Frater Duy about his winnings. Although Fr. Chuck won the raffle opportunity, he had to attend a funeral so asked Frater Duy to step in for him. On the ice He is usually known as the chaplain at Séminaire du Sacré-Coeur in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, Quebec (formerly, Pointe-au-Chêne), but once a year Fr. Richard Woodbury puts on his black and white stripped shirt and serves as referee for the student-faculty hockey game. “I used to play in the game,” said Fr. Richard, “but after herniating a disk in another hockey game, I was relegated to being referee.” He has served as referee for the past eight years. The game, which has been played at the high school since 1972, is a major part of the school calendar, discussed and analyzed for months before and after it is played. The 2008 version will most likely be discussed more than most it was only the second time in the history of the contest that the students beat the faculty. “It was more than a simple defeat for the teachers,” said Fr. Richard, “they were outplayed. The final score of 7-2 shows that it was a complete domination of the students.” Noting that it was his first time on the ice this year, Fr. Richard said that he was the recipient of a thunderous round of applause when he took a tumble while skating backwards. A member of the Canadian Region, Fr. Richard has been chaplain at Séminaire du Sacré-Coeur since 1974. For 26 of those years he also served as dean of students.
